Colour: bright green, with shades of green, from light to very dark (nearly black).
Lustre: adamantine, vitreous, silky, dull, earthy
Habitus: common botryoidal or mammillary aggregates. Rare acicular or prismatic crystals
Hardness: 3½ - 4
Fracture: irregular/uneven, sub-conchoidal, fibrous
Cleavage: perfect on {201}, fair on {010}.
Density:  4 g/cm3 
Origin and geological occurrence: it is a very common secondary Cu mineral in the oxidized portion of Cu deposits.
